Project Double M

When my partner, Maya Chatterjee and I witnessed the global effects of COVID-19, we wanted to alleviate the weight the pandemic had on organizations, families, and young children. And so began Project Double M. Over 8 weeks, our campers participated in a virtual summer program, exploring science, history, music, art, and culture. After receiving such positive feedback, Project Double M expanded in the fall to support young students, especially young women, through effective tutoring, while also donating to nonprofits that aid those in need.

Currently, Project Double M has over 25 students and over 25 tutors. Our students range from ages 5-13, and are from private and public schools across New York. Our tutors are passionate, dedicated, and experienced high school students from schools across New York as well. We plan to expand to other markets globally in the next year.

Project Double M provides academic support and enrichment in science, math, English, and general homework help. We conduct the tutoring sessions through Zoom/Facetime/Skype due to the pandemic; however, next year, we hope to give the option of either in-person or virtual tutoring.

Our tutoring program is free, however, we ask students for a suggested donation in order to raise money for Udayan Care and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
