Arya Doshi

My name is Arya Doshi, and I am currently a freshman at Pine View School in Sarasota, Florida. I discovered my passion for the medical field when I started volunteering at a nearby hospital in eighth grade. Along with that, I’ve fostered my interests through programs such as the Duke TIP Program, where I studied biology and chemistry. However, I realized the differences in the treatment concerning the health of men and women long before that. Having parents from a third-world country, I’m aware of the health-related problems that young women go through without access to proper care. As a young woman myself, I want to aid others who aren’t given the same opportunities as me. Specifically, I hope to alert more people to the ever-changing scope of the issues that adolescent girls of developing countries experience. As a teen, I aim to make people more conscious of this overlooked concern.

Drew Siegel

My name is Drew Siegel and I am currently a sophomore at Scarsdale High School in Scarsdale, New York. Before I was born, my grandma passed away from terminal cancer, so it has always inspired me to find ways to improve medical treatments. I am currently a part of my school’s science research program, where I am researching breast cancer. This summer, I am planning on doing research on how female socioeconomic backgrounds effect access to and outcomes  of medical treatments. I am also an officer of my school’s Women for Women club, where we fundraise and support women in third-world countries. On top of that, I created a health and wellness blog for my school’s newspaper, of which I am an editor. Lastly, I am also involved with my local hospital as the secretary of the junior board, where we run programs and fundraise to help support various projects at the hospital, especially pediatrics. I hope that through my involvement with Girls Global Health, I will be able to spread knowledge and awareness, and support those who are in need and lack the proper access to medical care.
